TORRITOS VS PEANUT BUTTER GRAPE JELLY SANDWICHES AS SCHOOL LUNCH – KIDS WITH PEANUT BUTTER RIDCULED AS BEING POOR – TIME FOR EDUCATION MINISTER TO CORRECT THIS HUMILIATION

August 21, 2017

We have one of our employees telling a bizarre and criminally destructive story.

She works hard; very hard to provide funds required to give her kids an education.

And she works hard; very hard to provide the resources needed to see them provided with a balanced and nutritious diet.

For example, one day she might provide a big peanut butter/ jelly sandwich, accompanied by a banana and orange juice.   (This is identical to what I gave my kids so long ago.)

Unfortunately, the Haitian school director sees fit to ridicule the lady’s kids as being poor…….. because their lunches are not made up of Torritos and synthetic, sugary fruit drinks.

This is a small element in the overall picture of why our Nation is failing.
There is absolutely no supervision, or follow up, to see the various sectors are working properly, efficiently and fairly.

The Minister of Education should step in to state some sort of nutritional guidelines, which will be a challenge for many. He could at least state the “empty calories” involved in non-nutritious Torritos and other such foods.

We understand that many parents must use whatever is available, and this might only include lunches that solve “Clorox Stomachs” but give little nutrition.

But a school’s targeted humiliation of certain children, as BEING POOR, when their parents are doing positive things is really counter productive in the long run. In fact, targeting children, for any negative, non-constructive reason, is criminal.

Humiliation of children, in schools, leads to their failure –  each one a long-term loss to the Nation. Who wants to exist in a bullying environment?

The child with the Torritos is more likely to come from a poor family, as is the one who has nothing more than a small plastic bag of Cornflakes.  But their parents are doing their best.  Each child has the potential of accomplishing great things.

THE ENTIRE POINT OF THESE PARAGRAPHS IS SIMPLY THIS – NO CHILD SHOULD BE HUMILIATED BECAUSE OF THEIR CLOTHING, SCHOOL LUNCHES OR ANYTHING ELSE.

HUMILIATION LEADS TO UNDERACHIEVEMENT – AND MORE.

CHILDREN ARE OUR MOST IMPORTANT ASSET.

WASTING ONE CHILD IS A CRIME.
