Chers Canadiens

Dear Canadians,

The Government of Canada take the safety and security of Canadians abroad very seriously and provide credible and timely information in our Travel advice and advisory for Haïti to enable you to make well-informed decisions regarding your travel abroad.  There is currently an increase in criminality in the period leading up to the holiday season.  Many incidents of armed robbery have occurred in different neighbourhoods of Port-au-Prince, and armed robbery by criminals on motorcycles sometimes target travellers after they have left the Toussaint Louverture International Airport area.  It is therefore highly recommended:

-to have your local contacts arrange for your pick-up from the airport and to exercise a high degree of caution on your way to your accommodation

-to keep windows closed and doors locked when travelling by car

-to avoid carrying large sums of money and be vigilant when entering or leaving a bank

-to avoid showing visible signs of affluence, such as expensive-looking jewellery or electronic equipment and to not resist if you are threatened by robbers

-to keep your valuables and identification on your person (in a pouch under your clothing, for example)

-to never walk alone and avoid travelling after nightfall

-to carry a cell phone and a list of emergency contact numbers

-to save the Embassy number in case you need consular assistance

It is very important to remain extremely vigilant wherever you are in the country in the period leading up to the holiday season .  Visit travel.gc.ca to learn more about travel advice and advisory for Haïti.

COMMENT: HAITIAN-TRUTH.ORG

Robert Redford has aged and Haiti has become a very dangerous armed camp.

Under Duvalier there was no crime.  I traveled anywhere, day or night, in absolute safety. There was little to no police/Army presence.

Now we are afraid to visit a bank, drive through certain areas or go out at night.  The PNH is like a Special Forces assassination teams looking for Bin Laden!!

President Moise must save the Nation. He can no longer allow paid street demonstrators the free right to disrupt our society, destroy property and threaten lives. People like Moise Jean Charles and Andre Michel should be arrested and subject to Preventative Detention – forever, like common citizens are treated now.

Why is Parliament allowed the right of blackmailing society?

Our children deserve a better future and they look to their President, Jovenel Moise to work for them, and our Nation.
