My Haitians –
Haiti is at a crossroad.
This is a moment of crisis, in our search for prosperity and Democracy.
It hasn’t been easy.
Prime Minister Lamothe, and I have been trying to break our Nation’s electoral deadlock. The vast majority of Haiti’s 10,000,000 citizens want Democratic progress, stability and security, but this desire has been blocked by 6, yes, I said 6, senators.
Six arrogant and selfish men have effectively blocked the Nation for months. Their ongoing demands for bribes have not been met.
Well now, in January, Parliament will be constitutionally dissolved, and we can move on with our lives, all ten million of us, minus the 6 Senators who would be king.
Some have suggested a prolongation of Parliament’s mandate, but this would merely create a continuation of the stupidity we have already experienced.
The Constitution allows me, as President, to solve this problem.
I will rule by Decree for a short period of time.
My first step is to commit to a national election during December of 2015. I will set the CEP to the task of arranging this important ballot. I will ask the International Community to assist us in this project. On election day I would hope that the International Community can put at least 8000 skilled observers, on the ground, to ensure a totally transparent, free and fair ballot – unlike many we have experienced, in the past.
My next step will see a fresh look at our disastrous Constitution, made even worse by International Community interference, as they forced me to approve a series of fraudulent amendments, generated by my predecessor.
Without a new, or heavily revised Constitution, our future will be plagued by impossible situations. We must provide solutions – now, before a fresh Parliament obscures Hope, yet again.
These are my commitments, my promises to the Nation, and the World Community.
I ask all Haitians, and our foreign friends, to work towards these two goals. To fail will doom my Nation, our Nation, your Nation to chaos and disaster.
If we pull together, we will succeed.
If we pull together, Haiti will survive and prosper.
The alternative is too frightening to contemplate.
In closing, I must urge you, the citizens of Haiti, to remember those elected representatives, who have worked against the Nation’s best interests, your best interests, your childrens’ and your childrens’ Childrens’ best interests, when you move to vote in the 2015 Haitian general elections.

Some of the Martelly Committee say they are leaning towards Prlongation of Senate/Chambre existence. This would be most foolish.
Bravo!!
But never will happen.
Martelly has placed himself in a potentially impossible situation.
Martelly is predictable. he always has “an answer” before he sets this type of question and will dictate this to his chosen group. In other words he works backward from the answer to his chosen solution.
I am worried that his “solution” before creating the commission, was Lamothe’s resignation. And, with this in mind, he had loaded the commission so it arrives at this solution.
Supposing, Martelly has now changed his mind?
The proper, just decision may be derailed because he has already committed to another.
Not the way a President is supposed to operate.

The Haitians elected Michel Martelly and he is still overwhelmingly popular with the vast number of voters. 54 percent of the voting population is 24 or younger. That is why this may be the death knell for Democracy that sees a return of Aristide’s team. Not fiction. Simple fact.
