Haiti - Economy : The modernization of the Toussaint Louverture Airport is progressing

Philippe CinĂ©as, the Secretary of State for Public Works and Transport, revealed at the last Council of Government, that expansion and modernization works at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport, will soon be carried out. An additional 600 m2 will be added to the existing 2,400 m2 of the arrival hall. 58 boarding stations will be available to airlines in December and twenty stores and restaurants will be installed in the “lounge” of 4,000 m2.

Moreover, the Government recalled that it intensified his actions for the airport of Port-au-Prince meets the safety standards of the Organization of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and that it continued to this effect, of renovation work of runways.

For his part, Jacques Rousseau, Minister of Public Works, stated that steps were underway with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to perform various maintenance work on the runways in 2014.
