The Digicel Foundation finances a water catchment project in Cornillon Grand Bois

As part of the 2nd edition of its “Konbit Pou Chanjman” campaign launched in May 2018 https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-24455-haiti-digicel-foundation-launch-of-the-2nd-competition-konbit-pou-chanjman.htmlthe Digicel Foundation finances a water catchment project in Cornillon Grand Bois (West Dept.) submitted by the organization “Union of Progressive Youth for the Advancement of Grand Bois Cornillon (UJPAGC)”

This project from the very beginning caught the attention of the Board of Directors of the Foundation which had selected it for the second phase (visit of the selected projects). The visits began in December 2018 and allowed the Foundation to understand the needs and urgency of certain projects, including the water shortage of Cornillon Grand Bois, as well as the daily challenges faced by the population. The organization was chosen as one of the 25 finalists and invited to present its project last February to the jury https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-27033-haiti-digicel-list-of-the-25-finalists-of-the-2nd-edition-of-the-digicel-contest-konbit-pou-chanjman.html

Following this presentation, the project was selected as one of the 15 winning projects and should officially receive its grant (700,000 gourdes) in the final to be held next April. However, given the urgency in Cornillon, the Foundation met with the UJPAGC on March 12 to finance the project sooner than the planned date and start the work immediately.

Thursday, March 14th, a meeting was held between the Digicel Foundation, the National Directorate of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) and the Cornillon Toqwn Hall to discuss the project implementation and proceed to the signing of the contract. Work will begin soon and will be jointly supervised by the three entities.
