Lawmakers in Switzerland’s lower house have approved a bill that will make it easier to seize cash stashed away in Swiss bank accounts by deposed dictators.
The SDA news agency reports that Haiti will now receive about $7 million seized from the Swiss accounts of former dictator Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier.
Monday’s vote doubles the amount of time suspect bank accounts can be frozen to 10 from five years.
It also specifies that returned funds should be used to improve living conditions, strengthen the rule of law or combat impunity for crimes.
The law change was earlier approved by Switzerland’s upper house and government.
It is very sad.

Can you please remind us the wages and fees paid to the haitian Presidents.My reason for asking is what type of business the Duvalier’s used to have in Haiti in order to accumulate such of a fortune making you today crying : it’s unjust for the Swiss Government to impose a banning law on their fund of 7 millions of dollars stolen from the national treasury of Haiti. What a shame for you to show a pity for people like that! unless you are one of them. excuse me, ( just a statement , not an accusation ). It is frankly disturbing to see that people who in their leadership never respected the rule of the law, begging today for justice in respect of the benefice of the law on their behalf; what an audacity !?

You pretend that these peoples had love for the nation. They are no different then common criminals or kidnappers of today terrorising the nation for money and power.Under their ruling, they had prefered to close theirs eyes on peoples like Dr Roger Lafontant his then Secretary of Defense and Interior affairs sending his gansters like ” Gro Joel ” to force the director of” ONA” to send to him the work saving of the people. Nothing was done or said to justity this matter. The assassination of the young journalist Gasner Raymond remained up to today a closed case, and you pretend that these peoples love the nation.Truthly you realy have what they call in psychology the disease of absentminderness.
I think that it is frankly time to teach this lesson to the haitian governments reminding to all of us, that the Presidency of Haiti like it is in other places around the world is an assignment to the cause of the welfare of the nation, but not a family heirs like the horse of the father’s heritage. Yes it’s an institution with its whole package,but part of this, is not stealing or killing the nation for the prevailing of family, friends or self interests. Remember no one should be above the law Mr Servius. Put that into your mind !
