In addition to the return of captain Matt Besler, who was with the U.S. national team camp for the past month, the club signed defensive midfielder Soni Mustivar on Friday, pending receipt of his international transfer certificate and P-1 Visa.
Mustivar, who has made six appearances for the Haiti men’s national team, will occupy an international roster spot.
“I believe that once he gets acclimated to the way we play, there are some special qualities in his game that will become very apparent,” Sporting KC coach Peter Vermes said in a news release.
Mustivar, 25, has also played in the French national team youth system and holds dual citizenship in France and Haiti. He spent the past three seasons playing in Romania’s Liga 1, scoring two goals in 61 appearances.
“I am very excited to join Sporting Kansas City,” Mustivar said in the release. “This is a great team with great fans. I am going to work hard from day one to contribute to the team any way I can.”
