Local Haitian idol WBA#7 Evens Pierre (26-1, 17 KOs) retained his WBA Fedelatin lightweight title by winning a near shutout decision over game but outclassed Tomas Mendez (21-7, 14 KOs) of the Dominican Republic. Pierre battered Mendez throughout the scheduled eleven rounds, but the gritty Dominican challenger fought until the final bell. Pierre gave his local fans much to cheer about with his speed, bolo punches and showmanship that just befuddled his opponent.

Pierre’s promoter Jacques Deschamps said “I am happy with Evens’ performance, combining skill and agression. We will be looking for Evens to challenge for a world title shot this year and hopefully it could be held in Haiti which would be a first for the country.”

The four bout card was held at the Karibe Convention Center in Petionville, Haiti. The other results were:
Francisco Contreras (29-5, 22 KOs) TKO 5 Jose Anibal Cruz (20-6, 14 KOs), lightweights
Raphael Larose KO 2 Frank Mola, heavyweights
Juan Carlos Pena KO 2 Yael Made, super-featherweights.
