Haiti - Economy : Prime Minister before the Finance Committee

Friday at the Legislative Palace at the invitation of the Finance Committee of the Lower House, the Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe, accompanied among others by, Wilson Laleau, the Minister of Economy and Finance [himself accompanied by several Directors General  and of Ronald Décembre, the Secretary of State for Tax Reform, met with deputies from different parliamentary blocs around the Finance Bill 2013-2014.

This working session which was attended by among others, Jean Tolbert Alexis, President of the Chamber of Deputies, A. Rodon Bien Aimé, the President of the Commission, Jacques Thimoléon, the President of the majority bloc in the Lower House “Parliamentarians for Stability and Progress” (PSP), has allowed the Head of Government, to provide an update on the various components of the draft finance law.

Moreover, given the concerns of some parliamentarians on the implementation of projects of 10 million gourdes, the Prime Minister gave the assurance that all these projects will be implemented in the shortest possible time and recalled that 115 projects of 176, were already running.

The Prime Minister stated that the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, whoise he hold the position, working to develop a strategic plan that was aligned with the development priorities of Haiti. Ensuring the Commission, that a Steering Committee will be established in collaboration with the Chamber of Deputies for the follow up of folders.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the President of the Commission announced that by next week, the deputies will be voting on the opportunity to vote the Finance Bill 2013-2014.
