Official opening of the Carnival Festivities

Friday at Karibe Convention Center, in a decor crowned with flowers, on the occasion of ball of Queens, President Michel Martelly, declared officially open the carnival festivities. Wanting to revive the tradition, the Head of State proceeded to the coronation of the Queen of flowers, Chrislie-Johanne Altidor, which will parade alongside Asline Anthony, Sheila Bejean, Alexandra J. Cadet, Marie Sergelo Elant, Marie-Stanley Imbry, Johanne laurent, Mirlie Madiou, Kattiana marcelin and Michèle Gercy, 10 young girls dressed by 10 of our best local designers who will parade during the three days of the Carnival, 28, 29 and 30 July 2013 from 5:00 pm.

According to Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Minister of Tourism, this vening performed in honor of the 10 Queens is at the dimension of this great cultural event. Convinced that this carnival event will benefit the country, the Minister took the opportunity to extend its congratulations to the organizers, who thought to revive the Haitian flora through the Carnival of Flowers.

For her part, Josette Darguste, Acting Minister of Culture, said that the organization of the Carnival of Flowers reflects the strong commitment of the Executive to promote art and culture of Haiti. The theme “Yon Ayisyen Yon Pye Bwa”, will serve as a leitmotif to awaken the consciousness of citizenship in order to increase the botanical gardens throughout the country, according to the wishes of the administration Martelly-Lamothe.

The Prime Minister, Laurent Lamothe wish a happy carnival of flowers to the population and invites revelers to celebrate in peace and quiet, noting that about 5,000 police officers of the National Police of Haiti, will be mobilized to ensure the safety of revelers in the metropolitan area of Port-au-Prince as part of the 2nd Edition of the Carnival of Flowers.

The ball of Queens was animated by the group Tabou Combo together with artists J-Perry, Mika Ben and inger and actor Jen Carlos Canela aka “Diablo”.
