Moïse makes promises to mayors

Thursday, the day after a 3 day work stoppage against the budget, observed by 48 town halls, President Jovenel Moïse, accompanied by Max Rudolph Saint-Albin, Minister of the Interior and Territorial Communities, met at Convention Center of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH), the municipal cartels of the Republic around the difficulties faced by mayors in the performance of their missions in order to harmonize the views between the central government and the communities in favor of Haiti’s real development and to avoid a movement of protest spreading through the town halls of country…

This meeting, which took place in the presence of the various Departmental Delegates and several senior officials of the Public Administration, served as a platform for exchanges between the Mayors and the Head of State.

The Head of State has promised to organize a gathering (without the press) around the problems of local and regional authorities, with senators, deputies, mayors, Municipal Sections Assemblies (ASEC) and the Boards of Communal Sections (CASEC).

The Head of State has promised a 4X4 vehicle for each town hall to facilitate the travel of elected municipal officials, ensuring that funds are in the budget and promised that these 140 vehicles will be available as early as October…

Moreover, he promised a motorcycle for each cartel (570 in total) of Municipal Assembly (ASEC) to improve the living conditions of local elected of, better than in previous budgets according to the Head of State…

At the end of the meeting, which enabled a better understanding of government decisions, President Moïse wished that this dialogue could be strengthened and sustained in order to improve the overall governance of the country.
