Without exception, the radio stations in Haiti, are communicating their disapproval of Martelly’s announced selection of Bernard Gousse as his candidate for the Prime Minister’ slot. Someone – other than Martelly, might approve, but, at this moment, they are remaining mute.
The Senate and Chamber of Deputies have gone on record by voicing their disapproval of Bernard Gousse, before Martelly makes the official announcement. The do not want the nation to think that they are blocking the process, after Martelly makes this move. In fact, Parliament says that they do not know why Martelly is playing such a game. It will just lead to more delays.
Martelly – who said that Daniel Rouzier was a life-long friend – must have known that Rouzier did not dare present his French passport. In other words, Martelly proposed someone with no chance of passing the scrutiny of Parliament.
This wasted time.
Now Martelly proposes another time waster – immediately before he departs on a 10 day holiday in Europe. Martelly claims the trip in one aimed at generating investment. This shows how little he knows about investment or economics. The two key factors for investors are POLITICAL AND FINANCIAL STABILITY
Haiti has neither!
Martelly’s concept is similar to a man trying to sell a condo in a building experiencing a 5 alarm fire!
If Martelly has plans to embarrass Parliament, he missed his opening during the Rouzier fiasco. Now, he is viewed as the incompetent, abandoned even by those who have been major supporters. They now recognize an impending disaster when they see one.
Martelly enjoyed 80% of the voter support.
Now this support has dwindled to what it was before the November 28, 2010 election was aborted and Martelly forced onto the stage through interference of the International Community.
Martelly should form a consensus, with Parliament, before he names anyone. He could have a deal before he commits his diminishing credibility on another disaster.
