Even as Martelly maneuvered to install a new Prime Minister in the form of Laurent Lamothe, Aristide sat back and watched the game. He watched as the Martelly team passed out money to Senators – $75,000 US a pop, without comment. Then, when the Senate approved Laurent Lamothe’s candidacy, Aristide’s people dropped the axe.
As the Prime Minister’s dossier moved into Haiti’s Chamber of Deputies, Aristide unleashed a Lavalas/flood of propaganda on Haiti’s Creole language radio stations, accusing Martelly of corruption. Aristide plans big demonstrations.
In fact, Aristide plans to neutralize the Martelly government and take control of Haiti by taking control of Parliament. He says he does not care who is in the Palace if he controls the Senate and Chamber of Deputies. To do this, Aristide is willing to put of the $$$ and he has a fortune to do this, accumulated from the cocaine business and thefts, during his presidencies. Some say he has some cash from book sales.
Jacques Alexis will join Lavalas for a run to gain the Senate seat in Gonaives, now held by Youri Latortue, who has a term that expires May 10, 2012.
Many other heavy-duty Lavalas players will be candidates in an Aristide funded election drive to capture control “Democratically.”
Martelly should have been a bridge between Lavalas and a Lavalas free Haiti.
Instead, Martelly will provide the bridge across which Lavalas will move to retake control.
Unfortunately, Martelly has surrounded himself with incompetents and allowed his wife – Sophia – to gain control of most potential projects. This has led to a complete and total paralysis of Haiti’s recovery effort.
