This morning, radio commentators were referring to SWEET MICKEY not PRESIDENT MARTELLY as being a corpse in the National Palace, creating a bad smell.
His recent visit to Cap Haitien to open the electoral campaign was met by aggressive crowds, who wanted nothing to do with Martelly. They yelled… “thief!!!” and “druggy!!” as he tried to speak, drowning out his words.
The recent criminal fiasco that saw President Martelly send Kiko, his brother-in-law, to a meeting at Claudia’s home – his sister-in-law, to collect $9,000,000 from his Agriculture Minister, Fresner Dorcin has been the breaking point.
No more subtle crimes!
Seems as though the Ministry of Agriculture had just received a large contract/grant from USAID and Martelly planned to steal it in one big swoop. It should be noted than $9,000,000 in $100 bills weighs 208 pounds, plus bag.
The Minister brought a reported $600,000 – about 15 pounds in $100 bills – to the meeting. Kiko was so enraged, at this insult, that he severely beat the Minister.
It should be noted that Minister Dorcin is obviously complicit in the crime.
Of course, no one was arrested, and Martelly appeared at an official event, installing a bunch of new justices, the next day, without comment. It was as if nothing had happened!! The media was silent – Martelly had paid!!!
Martelly has had absolutely no shame, since becoming President. He promised an education for all Haitian children, then proceeded to steal this Hope. Having set PSUGO as a fund to support his promise – taking $1.50 from money transfers – he oversaw a theft of some $16,000,000 in the first 6 months of this concept.
If Martelly had done nothing else, other than deliver on his promise of a free education, everything else could be forgiven.
The tide is moving against him.
It is only a matter of how long he will survive as President!
Up until the Kiko disaster, Martelly still had the support of Haiti’s vast majority.
An election – last week – would have seen him personally receive a vast majority.
This week, he will receive rotten tomatoes, eggs and rocks!!
Martelly could have retired gracefully.
Now he must give serious consideration to the retention of an expensive, high-profile American criminal attorney.
