MARTELLY’S AMATEUR SECURITY DETAILS FORCES PRESIDENT’S APOLOGY TO JOURNALISTS

JACMEL, Haiti –   President Michel Martelly, was forced to issue an apology  to journalists in the southeast for the behavior of members of his security detail.

While in the southeast President Martelly held a press conference at Hotel Cap Lamandou, for Tourism Week, Members of his security prevented members of the press from covering the event which wasn’t useful. A press conference, after all, is for the media..

The Agence Haïtienne de Press learned that journalists waiting for Martelly were ordered off the premises.

Officers threatened a photojournalist who tried to take a picture of Martelly after he had gone shirtless in Jacmel. The security guards attitude saw the media boycott the rest of the tour.

Martelly finally issued an apology.

Camille Leblanc, ex-Minister of Justice, issued a statement criticizing  the quality of Martelly’s security detail. He also made critical comments about the level of competence found in Martelly’s close circle of advisers. Leblanc said, in words to the effect, that Martelly did not have any advisers that were qualified to help him lead the Nation.
