Some of the protocol conscious have rebelled at the red shirts, worn by President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe.

“Should have been dressed in funereal black, since it was a funeral.”

A picture is worth 1000 words, perhaps 10,000 words in a land where many are illiterate. Martelly and Lamothe sent a message of solidarity, to the Venezuelan people, that no other government representative did.

And, check Martelly’s position by the casket. There is a message here!

And, the photos of Martelly with the people!

Since the efforts of Simon Bolivar, our nations have been connected. Chavez was a friend like none before. We will miss him, as will the Haitian nation.

The red shirts have set us aside from the rest of the world, and placed us within the inner circle in Venezuelan life. Two red shirts may have a greater economic effect, on Haitian life, than many other major, well-publicized projects.

Think of this when we burn another gallon of the Chavez petroleum.

    We will remember Chavez.

Venezuela will remember us – their memories focused by a couple of red shirts on a pair of Haitian friends, who just happened to be our President and Prime Minister.

One should not equate this simple act of friendship with economics but I can tell you that, when future foreign assistance is considered, by the new Venezuelan team, Martelly and Lamothe will be remembered -HAITI WILL BE REMEMBERED .
