Friday, at the hospital of the Office of Labor, Sickness and Maternity Insurance (OFATMA) of Les Cayes, in the presence of Roosevelt Bellevue, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Agabus Joseph, General Director of OFATMA and of Dr. Jacques M. Jeudy Director of the National Dialysis Program of the Office, President Jovenel Moïse, has inaugurated a medical dialysis service that will allow patients in the Great South not to have to travel to Port-au-Prince for dialysis services.

The Medical Dialysis Unit of the OFATMA of Les Cayes Hospital, with a surface area of 145 m2, includes 4 dialyzers, 1 water treatment system, a 26,000-gallon water tank and a 20-kw solar power supply.

This unit offers peritoneal dialysis and emodialysis. Open from Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 am to 6:00 am, this dialysis service will work with 4 doctors, 1 urologist, 2 surgeons and 1 internal nerophrologist.

“It is the political will that we need and today it is there” emphasized the Head of State who made reference to the creation of this second Medical Dialysis Unit in the country in less than 6 months not to mention the forthcoming inauguration of a third dialysis unit in the Department of the North in the town of Cap-Haïtien.
