The Port-au-Prince area is experiencing thunderstorm activity, with accompanying rainfall. Up until 10 P,M, nothing significant.

However, some parts of the north suffered significant water damage as torrential rain swamped the zone. Our photograph shows some 10 feet of water in Ouanaminthe.

The video of Joel Trimble in Cap Haitian shows the start of rainfall and wind during the late afternoon.

Luck is a matter of personal perception.

The nation escaped a total disaster.

Thousands of Haitians experienced personal disasters.

I hope the government uses the time available to really create an infrastructure for disaster relief – that is made up of something more substantial than words. We have the facilities and material to do this.
