Recent debate in Parliament saw certain constitutional amendments passed, while others did not. In effect, there is nothing that can be done for four years, when new constitutional amendments can be considered.
So those amendments that passed had to be sent on – by Preval – to the Moniteur, for publication, in order to become law.
What happened has resulted in a terrible and complicated mess that would take pages and pages to explain. However, what has happened is quite simple. What has been published, and become law, is not what was passed by The Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. Preval forwarded his own deal and it was signed off by the Preseident of the Chamber of Deputies, and Senate – either in collusion with Preval, or simply through stupidity, as they failed to read what they signed.
It is not a simple situation to correct since Preval no longer exists – as a public figure.
The crime could reverberate on into the next two presidencies!
In effect, Preval has seen the power go to his Preval-controlled Chamber of Deputies, while Martelly – the President’s power has been cut.
France, the United States and Canada are upset at the situation that could effectively derail Martelly’s efforts before they begin.
Preval used his illegal extension of power – to May 14 – in a cynical effort to create a crisis that will see Haiti paralysed, progress affected, people die.
ENOUGH IS REALLY ENOUGH. MARTELLY MUST MOVE AGAINST PREVAL, AND HIS ASSOCIATES, IN A SWIFT AND DECISIVE MOVE – ARREST THEM ALL.
THE FRIENDS OF HAITI – AMERICA, FRANCE AND CANADA MUST REVOKE ANY AND ALL VISAS HELD BY THOSE WHO WOULD DAMAGE THEIR OWN NATION. THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO LIVE IN THEIR MESS WITHOUT THE ABILITY OF ESCAPE TO PARIS, MIAMI, OR MONTREAL.
But the Americans, French and Canadians will never do that.
They talk a lot but refuse to help us discipline those who damage Haiti and also damage the efforts of these three great nationals.
Why doesn’t France arrest Preval for the murder of their Consul?
Why don’t the Americans arrest Aristide and Preval for their parts in the cocaine business that has killed American childrens?
I guess the word is politics.
It seems as though he correction will be printed on Thursday.
I don’t understand how this solution wil solve the Constitutional Crisis Preval has created.
There will be more problems, as the days pass.
Like a dead scorpion or rattlesnake, Prevals stinger is sill dangerous after he has departed.
Senator Patrick Leahy has already requested the cancellation of more visas.
Unfortunately, the Canadians do not use this form of moral suasion.
At one time the refused a visa to Chamber President Robert Monde, because he was against Aristide. And, on the other hand, the give a visa to Doctor Marie Antoinette Gauthier, who kidnapped a child from the hospital, where she was director, and took it to be sacrificed in a Voodoo ceremony.
