Violence in Projet Drouillard has claimed at least 11 lives and left dozens wounded in 24 hours of violence.

Gunfire.

Machette chops.

Frightened people are streaming from the area, in fear, with nowhere to go.

They are running from the violence, deserting what little they possess.

I have just watched some footage on local TV and it is really sad to see these people – trapped in a terrible environment – unable to protect themselves against a few people with guns and violence in their hearts.

Families have been shattered.

The death of a loved one who supports his wife and several small children leaves a situation with no real solution in this land of poverty.

Cite Soleir is a frightening challenge to any government.

In a land where needs are accelerating – the needs of Cite Soleir are overwhelming.

These are the challenges a new government must address, chalenges that are not as glamorous as large – empty tourist hotels….. but challenges that require attention to give our people some small chance at a future.
