HAITIAN POLICE WORK IN SUB-HUMAN CONDITIONS SO JAILS MUST BE MUCH WORSE MARTELLY AND AMERICANS SHOULD LOOK TO IMPROVE EXISTING CONDITIONS INSTEAD OF INCREASING NUMBERS OF POLICE…IT IS BETTER THAT THOSE EXISTING, FUNCTION UNDER BETTER CONDITIONS THAN TO MULTIPLY THE PROBLEM.

February 12, 2012

Recent American comments about increasing the PNH to 30,000 under Martelly is blind to the needs of those already on the force.

For example, the Petion-Ville Caserne does not have any toilet or shower facilities, for officers serving there.

Unbelievable!!

One can only imagine the filth that prisoners must be forced to endure, when those supervising them don’t even have the basic facilities.

Time to investigate the situation, get the Caserne a large reservoir tank, a pump, some toilets and a shower.

  1. I can remember during Aristide when Americans trains police. The course was cut in half to satisfy American politic demand. Police sent to places without doors, window, roofs, bathrooms….phones. But it looked good on paperwork when they told Congress how manys police were sent to how manys stations.

    Sam now.

    Numbers are all that counts.

    Don’t concern about the quality.

    And Haiti suffers, again.
