There are some destinations in the world that are so perfect and so lovely that we hear about travelers booking a vacation there time and time again. As travel editors we are personally often meandering off the beaten path. We love it when other folks take our lead.

We’ve long known that Americans are an adventurous lot, eager to explore new and exciting destinations. But according to a new global insights report from Sojern, the world’s leading performance marketing platform for travel brands, countries like Haiti, Iceland, and Cuba are starting to capture the attention of Americans.

“In North America, Haiti moved up 34 ranks since summer 2014, after experiencing a dramatic decline in tourism in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake, followed by Iceland, up 11 spots,” the report explained. “Cuba now ranks higher than Antigua and Barbuda, Curaçao, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and the British Virgin Islands.”

The study also found that despite recurring financial troubles, Greece remains a hot spot for European tourists. The country received an immediate dip in interest, but Sojern claims it has already seen a rebound.
