Haiti: Senate Begins Ratification Process of Prime Minister-Designate

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) – The Senate launched Tuesday evening in plenary for the process of ratification of the Prime Minister-designate, Laurent Lamothe, through the formation of a special committee to analyze the pieces of the candidate to succeed Garry Conille, who resigned three weeks ago.

Composed of seven members with a term not exceeding fifteen days, the ratification commission is led by Rodolphe Joazile, former President of the Senate. Six other elected officials complete its composition, Kély Bastien, another former head of the assembly, Jean-Baptiste Beloved, Hyppolite Melius, John William Jeanty, Francois Lucas St-Vil and Francky Exius.

A resolution introduced by the Chairman of the large body, Dieuseul Simon Desras, and which received the blessing of the 22 senators present, set the powers of the Commissioners to receive the record of Laurent Lamothe, study it in conducting the audit of all the parts before producing a report on which are the Assembly.

The accumulation of shocks and caused the departure of Conille significantly undermined the unorthodox methods of the former singer Michel Martelly, in power for ten months and now faces a serious political crisis.

Businessman and former tennis player,Laurent Lamothe, the possible successor of Dr. Garry Conille is, according to reports, the co-founder of a communications company with the head of state, a close friend whom he would greatly financed the election campaign.
