Friday as part of the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia, the Grenadiers (Haiti) and Canaleros (Panama), faced on the artificial turf of the Sylvio Cator stadium in Port-au-Prince, front a large audience.
Haiti that was in search of a victory, has obtained the better chances against Panama in the field. The Grenadiers had a good performance of the game overall, especially defensively. However, insufficiently bold and offensive, they were never able to find the goal net of Canaleros, despite some good breakthroughs by Jeff Louis, against a good defense Panamanian well grouped and Canaleros goalkeeper Jaime Penedo, intractable throughout an extremely closed match.
Of Canaleros which in turn, could not exploit opportunities facing a Haitian effective defense, which ended in a draw [0-0].
After the break, despite an apparent fatigue of Grenadiers coach Patrice Neveu has only made two changes: the defender Stéphane Lambèse #6 replaced by Jean Sony Alcénat in the 68th minute and later forward Jeff Louis #10 replaced by Wilde Donald Guerrier in the 87th minute [!]
Dissatisfied with the decision of the coach, some of the audience left the stadium before the final whistle of the match.
For severals, this zero score [0-0] against Panama, sounds like a defeat for the Grenadiers. The nextmatch, also against PANAMA, March 29 (in Panama City) will be the last chance for the Grenadiers, sentenced to victory in this leg, in order to stay in the race. It is the hope that nourish Grenadiers fans after the draw for the least disappointing.
Patrice Neveu, will have to learn from this match and align March 29 a more offensive formation and ready to face the opponent con-attacks.
