Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe Heads to Cote d’Ivoire

Haiti Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe departed Tuesday for a three-day trip to Cote d’Ivoire, his office announced.

The trip to Abidjan will include meetings with Ivorian Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan and President Alassane Ouattara.

The purpose of the visit iis to discuss potential cooperation between the two countries, according to Lamothe’s office.

He will be joined by a delegation including Foreign Minister Pierre Richard Casimir, Director of Cabinet in the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation, Maxime Cherestal and Abel Descollines, spokesman for the majority bloc in the Chamber of Deputies.

Lamothe will also be meeting with the small Haitian community in Cote D’Ivoire.

Haiti Tourism Minister Stephanie Villedrouin will serve as Acting Prime Minister during Lamothe’s absence.
