Taipei, April 19 (CNA) President of Haiti Michel Joseph Martelly is scheduled to arrive in Taiwan April 21 on a four-day state visit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Saturday.
Martelly, who assumed office in May 2011, will become Haiti’s first head of state to visit Taiwan since President Jean-Bertrand Aristide came to the country in July 2002.
The two will celebrate the 58th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties on April 25.
We have a long standing debt to Taiwan, and its people.
They have stood beside Haiti for a lifetime.
We look to another 58 years.
