Launching the series beginning on Wed. Oct. 1st is a documentary film executive- produced by Raoul Peck entitled Deported. Directed by

Rachèle Magloire and Chantal Regnault, this film gives voice to

convicted and sentenced offenders who at the end of their prison sentence in North America, are deported to their home country, Haiti. Back in Port-Au-Prince, a city they left as children, a new life begins for these “Americans” in an environment that can be both completely unfamiliar and hostile.

Rachèle Magloire will be at every screening to talk about her film and her experience as a filmmaker living in Haiti.

Ayiti Images was developed in the hopes of promoting Haitian filmmaker’s work about the Haitian experience and also providing quality, socially conscious films to Florida, one of the largest Haitian communities in the Diaspora. Rachelle Salnave,

Meet the Co-Director

Born in Port au Prince, Haiti, Rachèle Magloire was raised in Montreal, Quebec where she graduated in Communications in 1987. Since 1995, she directs documentaries within Fanal Productions, an audiovisual production company founded with Director of Photography and Director Carl Lafontant. From January 2002 to January 2004, she worked in The Democratic Republic of Congo for Radio Okapi, a national radio network founded by the UN in collaboration with Fondation Hirondelle for Freedom of Speech.  Learn more.
