PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) – The senate investigation into the nationality of the president and executive members of the government continues despite the decision of the Head of state to show his passports to prove his Haitian nationality. Senator Anick Francois Joseph (Artibonite/Alternative), declared the case is not closed, but has only just opened.
“We started to study the documents, it will take some time because there is interesting information found in passports,” said Senator Anick François Joseph, member of the inquiry commission.
“Now that the President has decided to collaborate, we thank him, but instead closing the case, we’ve just opened it,” said the MP who revealed he traveled with Martelly on an American Airlines flight, November 21, 2007. The senator said he noticed Martelly held a U.S. passport.
In a flight manifest, the airline denied that Michel Martelly was on board but a passenger named Michael Martelly was on that day. This has led to some confusion while a Haitian passport presented by Michel Martelly showed that he had traveled on November 21 in 2007.
“In my opinion, continues the Senator of Artibonite (Northern Haiti), it is important for the Committee to question the origin of eight passports presented by President Martelly. Why he chose to hand them over now if he had those documents all this time? Why President Clinton returned to Haiti on Wednesday and the President decided to exhibit his passports on Thursday? ”
The former Catholic priest thinks it is important for the Commission to take its time to consider these passports, to determine their age using sophisticated equipment.
“We must find a laboratory to analyze each page of passports with forensics or with other more sophisticated techniques. It’s not a game, these are things pretty serious. We must determine the age of each passport to see that they comply with the dates that are listed. We must determine the age of the ink seals that are also on passports, to see if the ink of these seals is the dates indicated,” Senator calls.
Moreover, referring to the Nov 21, 2007 at which Senator Anick said he traveled with Martelly on American Airlines flight, the MP says he don’t understand that the President repeatedly denied the information and then showed a passport saying otherwise.
“The Minister responsible for relations with Parliament, Mr. Theano, declared that November 21, 2007 the then-singer Martelly was playing a garden party in Haiti.
Then, surveying the immigration service to Port-au-Prince international airport, senators have called the list of passengers who were on American Airlines flight on Nov. 21 in the direction of Florida.
They found the list and the name of the President was not on it. And now that the President has a Haitian passport indicating that he traveled that day. Who is lying now? The Immigration service or the President of the Republic?” asked the senator.
“The Senate Committee has the responsibility to investigate this question, to explore this lie. I think the case is not ready to be close at all, “says Anick Francois Joseph.

Why do we enforce the laws against our own people.
I wish the senators had some better work to do than wasting our money in one subject. They forgot that Louis Borno was not a Haitian citizen. Haiti never had a constitution until the US occupation allowed the foreign whites to own land in our country. Since then the Presidents can make amendements and changes in that constitution anytime they want to fit their desire. Where did the constitution mentionned that Duvalier should be elected President for life.
I SUPPORTE A DOUBLE CITIZENSHIP FOR THE HAITIANS.
indeed, i concur
