Haiti - FLASH : Gary Bodeau elected President

Haiti Libre:

Yesterday Wednesday, only 24 hours after the creation of the Senate Bureau , and a long session, the deputies have chosen the Deputy of the constituency of Delmas, Gary Bodeau, Quaestor twice, as President of the Lower House following a consensus found among the majority groups. He succeeds to Cholzer Chancy.

It should be noted that Gary Bodeau, leader of the Parliamentary Alliance for Haiti (APH) bloc, was the only candidate after the withdrawal of Deputy Ennery Cholzer Chancy, Ayiti an Aksyon (AAA).

The President of the Lower House and that of Senate have a renewable term of one year.

“I welcome the election by acclamation of the Honorable Gary Bodeau as the new Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies,” declared former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe.
