The trio has been under suspicion of alleged drug trafficking in the Port Salut/Cap Haitian areas for some time. Some suggest they were closely associated with arrests involving 50 kilos of cocaine during mid-September, 2013.

Evinx Daniel has not been see for almost a month.

Port Salut has been a focal point in the drug trade, with the Uruguayan detachment of MINUSTAH playing an important role, much to the disgust of local inhabitants who resent this intrusion in their business.

The Uruguayans have used their boats and helicopters for their cocaine movement.

  1. Daniel Evinx was last viewed in Gonaives where he departed from his vehicle on a motorcycle. Not observed since.

    PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — A prominent hotel owner in Haiti has gone missing and police say they have made several arrests as they search for him.

    Evinx Daniel was last seen on Jan. 5 and police found his abandoned vehicle on Saturday at a gas station outside the western port city of Gonaives.

    Haitian National Police spokesman Gary Desrosiers said Thursday detectives have made several arrests, but he declined to give details because the case is under investigation.

    Daniel owns the oceanfront Dan’s Creek Hotel in southwestern Haiti, which is popular among foreigners. Florida public records show that he also owns several export businesses in that state.

    Daniel was briefly detained in September on drug trafficking charges but a judge ordered his release, citing a lack of evidence.
