DUVALIER VISITS CABARET, MONTROIS, ST. MARC AND GONAIVES – WELCOMED BY MASSIVE CROWDS AT EACH STOP – GODFATHER OF LAWYERS’ GRADUATING CLASS AT UNIVERSITY IN GONAIVES

December 16, 2011

Former President Jean Claude Duvalier swept up the coast, to Gonaives, stopping along the way to meet with mobs of Haitians who gathered at each place he paused. Everyone wanted to meet Duvalier. Many reached out to touch their favourite Haitian.

Contrary to some media reports, and the ongoing cries of human rights groups – who continue to ignore the crimes of Aristide/Preval – Duvalier was never unpopular and remains a favourite of the vast majority. He was forced from power by a small nucleus of businessmen, and activists, who marched to their own agenda, not that of Haiti’s majority.

Jean Claude Duvalier was asked, by the professors and law graduates in Gonaives, to be the classes Godfather.

Thousands swarmed the area in Gonaives, to get a look at the President.

The reaction mirrored his visit to the Leogane area where each stop generated crowds that would make a political candidate jealous.
