Jean Henry Ceant spoke to a group at St Joseph, a church deep in the volatile Bel Aire slum on Wednesday. He outlined his extensive program for the rehabilitation and reconstruction of Haiti.
Ceant also said that he was Lavalas and effectively threw down the gauntlet in the increasingly partisan and dangerous game. Preval has effectively barred Lavalas from the electoral process for the past two election cycles in an effort to eliminate this very large bloc from the process. Ceant’s comment gave Lavalas the opportunity to speak out and participate. It gives a massive segment of the voter pool an opportunity to show its disdain for Preval and his team of criminals. It was a declaration of war against Preval’s criminality and that of his close circle of associates who have raped, kidnapped, murdered and robbed with impunity over the past years.
There must be no immunity.
There can be no immunity if Haiti is to have any chance to regain any trust among the international community.
However, the highlight of his comments was a statement to the effect that Aristide would be welcome to return, the moment Ceant is declared President.
When Ceant left the meeting and went to get in his car the mob stopped him. They insisted that Ceant walk with them through the streets of Bel Aire. In an emotional march, the presidential candidate walked at the front of a crowd that expanded exponentially as he led his potential supporters. The original thousands became many more. It was more like a vitory march, of a successful campaign, that the follow up to a political speech.
Preval must be terrified.
Preval has been playing a psychological game by presenting a series of false polls which show Mirlande Manigat with substantial support, along with Charlito Baker. These polls show the Preval candidate, Jude Celestin, with low number. Preval’s plan, supported by Bill Clinton and his wife, will see a run-off between Manigat and Baker with Manigat winning. She will then be controlled by Preval, who will also control the cabinet and Parliament.
The true poll numbers, obtained from a professional survey, show Ceant with percentages varying from 46 to 51 percent…and Manigat at something near 2 percent.
Friday’s planned rally in Tabarre should show the true support Ceant possesses. Knowledgeable people suggest that 100,000 attendees is not an impossible figure. We will know in about 36 hours.
HAITIAN-TRUTH does not care who wins, so long as the winner is really the one the Haitian people want – not another selection by the International Community.
Let Haitians decide upon their own destiny, for a change.
Guarantee a safe election, fair count and accept the winner.
After all, that is what Democracy is supposed to represent.

LOL to V.Meronvil’s comment; he speaks without knowing his facts, had he done his Homework he would have known that Jude has intimate ties with Preval’s daughter….It’s funny he put “vive Jude CNE.” CNE is a government agency and Jude is using his job with mediocre results as accomplishment! Funny…. I was in Haiti when Me.Ceant made it clear that he is for the return of ALL exiles. People should stop focusing so much on Me. Ceant’s relationship with Aristide and focus on the crises and chaos that Perval and his “Jude CNE” have done very little to remedy.
