CANADIAN FUNDING FROZEN AND EVERYONE SURPRISED… THEY SHOULDN’T BE – CANADA SENT A MESSAGE IN NOVEMBER, BUT NO ONE WAS LISTENING.

“The Haitian Government is accountable to Canada…” was the statement of Minister Julian Fantino, to the Government of Haiti, on November 28, 2012, and no one listened.

International Co-operation Minister Julian Fantino then commented, in his January 4, 2012 press interview, about garbage in the streets of Port-au-Prince. This was, in fact, a not so  subtle shot at the Martelly government, since Canada had contributed millions, and millions towards garbage collection only to trace the funds into bank accounts controlled by Martelly government people, and members of the Martelly inner circle.

I don’t know what can be done to salvage this unfortunate situation. Fantino is the ex-head of a provincial police force and, as such, has a strong sense of right and wrong.  Canadian intelligence sources have provided him with specific information on who took the money and where it is now.

So much for the Martelly promise to root out crime wherever it might be, even if the criminal is close to him. To honor this promise now, Martelly would have to jail his entire inner circle, then join them in their cell and toss the key out, through the bars.
