Haiti - Social : «Vertières continues» (dixit Ady Jean Gardy)

On the occasion of the 209th anniversary of the Battle of Vertières, Ady Jean Gardy, the Minister of Communication declared on the eve of this great day “[…] Sunday commemorative events will be held, the President will address a radio televised message to the Nation http://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-7183-haiti-social-209th-anniversary-of-the-battle-of-vertieres-speech-of-president-martelly.html […] there will be the traditional presentation of wreaths to the heroes of the Fatherland (9:00 am) at the National Museum of the Pantheon (MUPANAH), we are all there, the entire ministerial cabinet, for once again, salute their memory and honor their heroic actions during the Battle of Vertières.

It is this battle that has allowed us to achieve our independence and immediately after the battle, there was a meeting of Fort Liberté, and this is there, that General Jean Jacques Dessalines, General Clervaux and the General Pétion, laid the foundation of Independence.

We will therefore honor these personalities leader of our independence during the day, […] in Cap Haitien, a delegation from North and representatives of the Executive, will also be at the monument to present a special tribute and offer flowers.

[…] it is the Council of Ministers, who will take care of this historic moment, as the President participates in the meeting of countrues et Heads of State Iberoamerican, a very important meeting for us because Haiti will get its place as a member of the Congress of Heads of State Ibero-American. This will allow us to pursue various projects related to the reconstruction and have also new investors and key partners […] For his part, the Prime Minister will attend an important meeting on entrepreneurship and a large group of investors and businessmen should also make arrangements to come to Haiti to participate in the reconstruction.

So there are new battles, new battles for the reconstruction of the country and these new battles, like that of Vertières should enable us to strengthen our economy and political independence on the world stage, in the context of what I call the global governance.

The spirit of Vertières is maintained and the President of the Republic, will celebrate Vertières, he will ask international Heads of State, to the Heads of State Ibero-American to commemorate with him before his displacement for Belgium and then he will met [Thursday in Rome] Pope Benedict XVI […] So this is a travel extremely important for our country and we are continuing the spirit of Vertières.

[…] The message of the President of the Republic, will certainly keep alive the flame of Vertières and remember the ideals of the Founding Fathers of Independence, as well as today’s vision which is to continue strengthening the independence and the fight against poverty and ignorance.

The battle against slavery was won, but today the battle against extreme poverty will be won and there, we need national solidarity and international solidarity, Vertières continues.”

The annual November 18 ceremony to recall Vertieres was held in Port-au-Prince as Army Day until Aristide  double-crossed the Americans  and destroyed Haiti’s Forces Armees d’Haiti on November 17/18 1994.

Aristide’s return, in 1994, was predicated upon the existence of a retrained and re-equipped FAdH that would act as a counterbalance to Aristide’s predicted grab for dictatorial control. The Governors Island Accord set out the details of the agreement. Aristide refused to sign the same copy as signed by General Cedras in fear of mystical powers. Dante Caputo initialed the copy signed by Cedras, in the place of Aristide. Aristide signed a separate copy, four days later…. Not hours later as popularly believed.

The Commander in Chief, of the FAdH – was to be chosen from existing general officers, as stipulated in the Constitution and Military Regulations. That meant that the commander had to be General Duperval, or General Mayard. Had the agreement been followed, the FAdH would have stood, as a countervailing force against Aristide.

Instead, with the collusion of the American general in charge of the invasion, Aristide illegally appointed Lieutenant Colonel Pouisson, the fire chief, to brigadier general’s rank. He then fired Mayard and Duperval, along with the rest of the Quartier General staff.

The cocaine dealer and killer, Beaubrun, was named to be a brigadier general.

All of today’s unrest can be traced back to the American general’s cooperation with Aristide in the destruction of our FAdH. The American nation’s word is worth absolutely nothing. All of our current unrest is the result of their meddling.

Vertieres is Army Day and the world should appreciate and accept the fact that the vast majority of Haiti’s 9,000,000 people want their FAdH revived.

Many of the business community are against this because the FAdH would have intervened to stop some of their more flagrant crimes, like the creation of a kidnap net in cooperation with the Aristide created PNH.

On this special day the nation should reflect upon how things were, with the Forces Armees d’Haiti in place.

Martelly should be forced to keep at least one of his promises to the people, promises that saw them support his election as President….and revive the Army.
