Another Keystone Kops fiasco that saw several gates opened – some say seven – allowing the escape of many prisoners from the PNH facility at Croix des Bouquets. The street rumors see Aristide investing some heavy dollars to embarrass the Martelly/Lamothe government, immediately after they filed warrants against him, and key Lavalas people.

The Clifford Brandt escape was a side benefit, an additional embarrassment.

There doesn’t seem to have been a team of 15 heavily armed guys in 3 black Land Cruisers. Someone said there was a Terios.

This was a typical Aristide action, initiated immediately – predictably –  after the warrants were served against him, and his key associates.

Aristide always reacts with an immediate assault when challenged.

Jean Dominique met with Aristide and refused a demand that he soften his approach. The following Monday he was dead.

Father Jean-Marie Vincent suggested that Aristide step aside – since he couldn’t have a second term – and allow time for selection of his replacement. Vincent was killed immediately after this untimely comment.

Antoine Izmery  switched allegiance and was killed, much to the embarrassment of the Cedras team.

There are dozens of others who paid the price and, where possible, sacrificed to gain a secondary goal – the embarrassment of opponents.

There have been previous problems, at the Croix des Bouquets facility. Corrective steps were supposed to have been taken. Unfortunately, this is not the case and the Chief of Police must be held accountable.

In fact, this charade could not have been carried out without the complicity of staff, within Croix des Bouquets, and higher up. They should bring a polygraph specialist in for interviews of all involved, from bottom to top.

Godson Aurelus has not showed any sort of competence, since being appointed as chief of the PNH almost 3 years ago.  His main interest has been focused on the acquisition of cash, in much the same manner as th guy he replaced.

The incident at Croix des Bouquets has created a crisis for the Martelly/Lamothe government and the PNH.

Heads must roll and we should start with Godson Aurelus and work our way down the totem pole.
