Another day.
Another train wreck!
FUEL PRICES provide a simple, emotional focal point for the OPPOSITION. Everyone, everyone, everyone suffers the effects from a fuel cut off and this is the jugular.
Businesses cannot function.
Kids cannot go to school.
Doctors cannot see patients.
Senators and Deputies cannot go to the Decameron.
Paralysis of all elements will be generated with a small input, since the negative dynamics already exist. They just have to be enlarged with each new manifestation. All it takes is for a small team to light the fuse, and we have an explosion, each one greater than before.
EVENTUALLY THE GOVERNMENT WILL BE CONSUMED!
With the influx of unlimited funding from Maduro/Venezuela and the Peoples Republic of China, the Opposition elements can work effectively to destabilize the Nation.
There are too many people taking commissions between the supplier and the gas pump. Finally the government will put one more leech onto the body and the collapse will be fatal.
Each new delivery is met with a total screw up as the government runs around, looking for money to pay the supplier.
Once, or twice, is one thing, but every month is an indication of dysfunction at an extreme level – even for Haiti – since there are corrective actions that could have, should have been taken.
What alternatives could be found.
THERE ARE MANY BUT THESE WILL UPSET CERTAIN KEY BUSINESSMEN WHO ARE SUCKING OUR LIFE-BLOOD FROM THE ECONOMY!
A SIMPLE ONE WOULD BE SPREADING THE COST OVER EVERYTHING ELSE WITH AN INCREASE IN SALES TAX.
A SIMPLE FUEL PRICE INCREASE WILL FUEL THE OPPOSITION FIRES.
Our American friends really want what they call, Democratic Continuity, in which one Elected President completes his/her Mandate and hands off to the next Democratically Elected President.
They don’t want the journey to interrupted.
They don’t want another Transition to nowhere, so dear to Haitian politics.
But, the Elected president – in this case Jovenel Moise, must work to avoid an overwhelming Tsunami of pressures that will – eventually – drown what exists.
The handling of Haiti’s fuel situation has been a predictable, avoidable ongoing train wreck- since Interim President Privert’s BMPAD chief Patrick Norame stole a fortune. Some mention $80,000,000 from the funds required to pay for fuel shipments.
Norame must be pursued within the American court system.
Time to go back to square one and remove all of the unnecessary intervening diversions of commissions between the refinery and the fuel pumps.
We should also pursue those who have stolen funds from the fuel accounts.
Where is Youri Latortue when you need him, except for the fact that he is not into self-criticism.
President Moise must move to resolve this problem.
