Haiti - Education : «It is through education that a nation is built» dixit Michel Martelly

Wednesday, President Michel Martelly, accompanied by Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, visited the entre d’Études Secondaires (CES) (ave du Travail à Port-au-Prince), which will celebrate its 60th anniversary next October.

The Head of State met Patrick Pompilus, the Director of the institution, faculty, students and some members of the Alumni Association and Friends of CES (AAACES), a newly created entity, which benefited this visit to present the AAACES to the President Martelly [alumnus of the school, from the second to terminale (October 1979-June 1982)], its orientation, its many accomplishments and ongoing projects, mainly a library in honor of the founder of this school, the teacher Pradel Pompilus. It was an opportunity for the Head of State to rejuvenate and engage in favor of his “alma mater”. He enrolled as a member of the AAACES and promised to support firmly the Association in its many redevelopment projects of the CES.

While thanking the staff for the many efforts for quality education in Haiti and while encouraging students to take their studies seriously, the Head of State has pledged its support to various development efforts and of modernization of the institution for its sustainability and the pursuit of its ideals of excellence “It is through education that a nation is built, and the contribution of each and all is fundamental,” stressed the President Martelly, which also refers to the quality of education and encouraged all stakeholders in the education system to work towards the formation of new generations of men and women in Haiti.

CES officials took advantage of the visit of the President of the Republic, to award him on this occasion, an Honor and Merit plate.
